Here’s one from TODAY:
56 years ago this week, the children’s show “Mr. Rogers Neighbourhood” debuted on public television.
The show was created by Fred Rogers. He was a Presbyterian minister, and he wasn’t happy with the way TV addressed children. The show was based in Pittsburgh. New episodes premiered every week on PBS for 33 years!
We all knew Mr Rogers……..who had that kind-hearted, grandfatherly personality. Not only did he host the show….he wrote it. He was also a musician, and wrote the music and songs for each show. Full episodes are found on YOUTUBE. It’s been 22 years since Fred Rogers passed away, but he has left a true legacy behind.
“It’s a beautiful day in this neighborhood A beautiful day for a neighbor Would you be mine? Could you be mine”?
