The process of bringing a Turf Facility to Thunder Bay is set for its next steps.
Council decided to move forward with a two-step design-build request for proposal (RFP) for the facility in June.
Stantec Architecture Ltd. has been retained by the city to assist with the Request for Pre-Qualification process (RFPQ), which is the first step of the RFP process.
“Successful Respondents in this RFPQ will be short-listed and invited to participate in a subsequent second-stage RFPs (which will include a design competition) with the ultimate end goal of awarding a design-build contract to the successful proponent from that RFP process,” explains the city on the bid page.
The city hopes the successful applicant from the second stage of the request for proposal will enter into a CCDC 14-2013 Design-Build Stipulated Price Contract with the city.
Contractors hoping to submit their proposed designs and costs have until Thursday at 2:00 p.m. to do so.
Once the city has closed the bid submission process they can go through and select the best options.
Bids to build the facility will be capped at $42.7 million, not including debt repayment.
The only way the facility does not move forward is if no bids are submitted or if the city declines the bids they have received.
