What could make a getting pulled over for stunt driving any worse?
Be impaired and in possession of a non photo card portion of a cancelled, revoked or suspended licence.
A Gorham man found that out the hard way Friday.
Around 10:00 p.m. an officer with the Ontario Provincial Police was conducting radar enforcement in the area of Dawson and Dog Lake Road when they tagged a vehicle travelling 154km/h in a posted 80 zone.
A traffic stop was initiated and the 25 year old driver failed a roadside screening test.
He was taken to the Thunder Bay detachment for further testing.
He’s been charged with:
· Dangerous Operation
· Operation While Impaired – Alcohol and Drugs
· Operation While Impaired – Blood Alcohol Concentration (80 Plus)
· Drive Motor Vehicle – Perform Stunt – Excessive Speed
· Possess Non-Photo Card Portion of Cancelled, Revoked, or Suspended Licence
On their own an impaired charge results in a 90 day licence suspension and a 7 day vehicle impound, where a stunt driving charge yields a 30 day suspension and 14 day impound.
The accused received a merged penalty of a 90 day licence suspension and a 14 day vehicle impound.
He was released from custody and is expected to appear in court on September 29th.
