Almost half a million dollars in illicit drugs have been seized and six people have been arrested following a drug bust at a Leith Street home Wednesday evening.
Officers executed a search warrant at the home just after 5:00 p.m. as part of an ongoing investigation into drug trafficking taking place at the residence.
There they seized $460,000 worth of suspected crack cocaine, cocaine, fentanyl, $50,000 in cash, drug trafficking equipment and a loaded handgun with ammunition.
Of the six arrested two are from Thunder Bay, and the rest are from the G-T-A and Quebec.
All of the accused face a variety of charges.
The two Thunder Bay residents a 51 year old man and a 50 year old woman have each been charged with:
• Possession of Cocaine for the Purpose of Trafficking
• Possession of Fentanyl for the Purpose of Trafficking
• Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5,000
• Possession of a Loaded Prohibited or Restricted Firearm
• Knowledge of Unauthorized Possession of Firearm
• Unauthorized Possession of a Prohibited or Restricted Firearm
• Careless Storage of a Firearm
Meanwhile two Quebec residents, a 31 year old from Chateauguay, a 28 year old man from Montreal as well as a 27 year old Toronto man face the same charges.
A 17 year old male, who cannot be identified due to provision within the Youth Criminal Justice Act has been charged with:
• Possession of Cocaine for the Purpose of Trafficking
• Possession of Fentanyl for the Purpose of Trafficking
• Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5,000
• Possession of a Loaded Prohibited or Restricted Firearm
• Knowledge of Unauthorized Possession of Firearm
• Unauthorized Possession of a Prohibited or Restricted Firearm
• Careless Storage of a Firearm x 2
• Failure to Comply with Release Order
All six accused appeared in bail court Thursday and all were remanded into custody.
