The province’s Special Investigations Unit has cleared an officer with the Thunder Bay Police service following an investigation into a motor vehicle collision, minutes after the officer called off pursuit of the vehicle involved for public safety reasons.
On January 4th the officer attempted to pull the vehicle over for running a stop sign, however the vehicle accelerated away and was briefly pursued.
That vehicle ended up colliding with another vehicle at the intersection of Mary and Brown Streets, the driver suffered facial fractures and, along with a passenger, fled the scene before being arrested a short time later.
Through the investigation it was determined the officer conducted himself with due care and regard for public safety.
