Finnish pancake lovers can rejoice now that the beloved establishment, the Hoito Restaurant has returned to serve up orders at a new temporary location.
This comes three years after closing its doors and almost two years after a fire destroyed the original restaurant, the world renowned Hoito ha now moved to the Thunder Bay Country Market in a temporary satellite location.
It will be open during market hours of operation on Wednesdays (3:30p.m. – 6:30 p.m.) and Saturdays (8:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.) and in addition to serving up the original recipe will allow diners to sit in the same chairs that adorned the restaurant until the December 2021 fire.
This year marks the 105th anniversary of the opening of the Hoito and the Finlandia Co-operative of Thunder Bay calls the reopening of the restaurant a major milestone towards reopening a permanent location in the city.
