The City of Thunder Bay has released how much candidates spent during the 2022 Municipal election and it shows at least one member spent an unusually high amount as compared to their competitors.
Those expenditures come from the At-Large race where Rajni Agarwal spent $27,490.49 on her campaign, almost triple the amount spent by any others seeking a council seat, in both the At-Large and Ward races.
Comparable numbers only came from the Mayoral challengers, which topped out with Ken Boshcoff spending $29,099.30, followed up by Peng You at $26,719.20.
Current data shows almost $300,000 was spent in total by those seeking office, however there are some who did not file their financial paperwork by the March 31st deadline.
If they fail to file statements by May 1st, along with a late fee of $500, they can incur penalties including being unable to run in the 2026 election.
