A 24 year old Windsor man faces a number of charges after stealing a pickup truck from a Memorial Avenue business who refused to rent the vehicle to him Thursday.
The incident occurred just after 4:00 p.m. when the man attempted to rent the truck from the business but due to outstanding complaints from U-Haul, he was denied.
However that didn’t stop him as he stole a set of keys and assaulted an employee before fleeing in the stolen vehicle.
Officers were dispatched to the Squier Street area just before 4:30 p.m. to reports of a located stolen vehicle in the area, but it had departed by the time officers arrived.
Two hours later the vehicle was located again, this time on Carrick Street, and this time officers were successful in seizing the vehicle and apprehending the driver.
Charges include:
• Assault
• Theft of Motor Vehicle
• Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5,000
The accused appeared in court Friday and was remanded into custody.
