Tbaytel is once again seeking applications from organizations for its Tbaytel For Good campaign, however there are a few changes this year, which marks a decade since it was first launched.
One of the biggest changes will allow organizations to apply for varying amounts instead of just a 10 thousand dollar top prize, which Tbaytel spokesperson Jamie Smith says will open up more opportunities.
“The last few years the $10,000 was pretty amazing, but at the same time you know there are some projects that don’t really require that, that can still do amazing things in the communities we serve.”
There will also be changes to how a project or organization gets picked, following a community survey conducted by Tbaytel, the voting from the public option has been eliminated in favour of a judges panel.
Smith says this is based upon comments from the past over the difficulties with voting.
“Rallying that community support can sometimes be taxing for smaller places in the region that don’t really have the numbers to get those community votes up. So this time around we thought, lets open up our judges panel.”
The panel will be made up of a wide array of experts from diverse backgrounds, according to Smith, from many of the communities across the region Tbaytel serves.
Organizations who want a shot at a grant from the $30,000 pool of money have until May 24th to send in their application here.
