Ontario Provincial Police, working with the Nishnawbe Aski Police Service have arrested and charged a 22 year old woman with murder following an Easter weekend incident on the Slate Falls First Nation.
Police were called to the community on April 9th to assist NAPS after 32 year old David Brown, of Wapakeka, was pronounced deceased.
Through an investigation which involved members of the OPP’s Forensic Identification Services, Criminal Investigation Branch, Major Crime Investigation Team, Regional Support Team and the Northwest Region Crime Unit, the 22 year old woman was identified, arrested and charged with second degree murder.
She has since been remanded into custody and will appear in a Kenora court on April 13th.
The investigation remains ongoing with assistance with the Office of the Chief Coroner for Ontario and the Ontario Forensic Pathology Service.
A post mortem is slated to be conducted in Toronto at a later date to confirm the cause of death.
