Five people were arrested by police during search warrants executed at a pair of south side homes Saturday and the more than $135k in cocaine seized makes it no April Fools joke.
An investigation into drug trafficking activities at a Syndicate Avenue South home and a McGregor Avenue home, Thunder Bay Police executed search warrants April 1st starting at 10 o’clock in the morning.
In addition to the drugs, police also seized drug trafficking equipment and more than $16, 500 in Canadian currency.
During the execution of the warrants one of the accused attempted to flee, but they were apprehended later in the Christina Street area.
Of the five arrested, three are residents of Thunder Bay, with the remaining two coming from Victoria, B.C. and Brampton respectively.
The ages of those arrested range from as old as 61 to 17.
All have been charged with:
• Possession of Cocaine for the Purpose of Trafficking
• Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5,000
The 61 year old was released from custody with conditions and a future appearance date, meanwhile the remaining four were remanded into custody to await future court dates.
