A 43 year old city man is facing assault and failure to comply charges, they additionally could face hate crime charges following an incident at a Memorial Avenue Wendy’s Sunday.
Police were called to the restaurant just after 3:30 p.m. after the accused approached staff behind the counter shouting at them before attacking one of the staff members.
During the altercation it is alleged the man shouted at them to go back to their own country.
Officers located and arrested the man shortly thereafter and, according to a release from the Thunder Bay Police Service, the incident is expected to be reviewed for potential hate motivation.
The accused appeared in court Monday morning and has been remanded into custody.
