Two inmates were injured following an assault Monday at the Thunder Bay District Jail according to the Ministry of the Solicitor General.
The incident occurred just before 2:30 p.m. and Thunder Bay Police have been brought in to investigate.
One victim is a 33 year old male who sustained injuries consistent with a stabbing, and the assault is believed to have involved multiple persons.
Fortunately those injuries were not life threatening.
No details have been released regarding the second inmate or the extent of their injuries.
According to a Ministry spokesperson both inmates have been returned to the facility following the incident, which remains under investigation by both the Ministry and Thunder Bay Police.
