Residents in the Mount Forest Boulevard area have had their water service restored following a shutdown of the water main which fed all services north of Highway 61 west of Mount Forest Boulevard and west of Mountain Road, including Mountain Road itself.
The shutdown was required as part of water service work in the area.
The City of Thunder Bay put out a media release regarding the return of water service shortly before 3 p.m. Monday, however it did not indicate as to when the water was shut off or how long the repairs took.
Residents may notice some discolouration of tap water and are advised to complete the following steps:
- Do not open any HOT water taps.
- Open only one COLD water tap (a tap that does not have a water filter system attached to it) and allow the water to flow at a medium flow until the water runs clear.
- Once the single COLD water tap is running clear, open all other taps including HOT water taps and flush until all water runs clear.
Running the cold water taps for five minutes should clear any discoloured water, however if it returns residents are asked to repeat steps 1-3.
If repeating the process does not work homeowners can contact Infrastructure and Operations dispatch at 625-2195.
