The Grand Chief of the Nishnawbe Aski Nation, Derek Fox, has been suspended.
A statement from NAN confirms an internal investigation is underway into alleged violations by Fox, of the organization’s Executive Council Code of Conduct.
Fox will continue to be paid as per the Code of Conduct pending the outcome of the investigation and or direction of NAN Chiefs.
For the interim all matters under the Office of the Grand Chief will be handled by senior management.
Prior to being elected as Grand Chief in 2021, Fox had served two terms as a Deputy Grand Chief.
As part of the investigation and to protect its integrity NAN will be issuing no further comments on the matter at this time.
