A little bit of cold weather has done the ice surfaces at the outdoor rinks around the city some good allowing them to be reopened Friday.
Recent warm weather had softened up the ice, even melting it in some locations, but the chilly temperatures seen in the city over the last few days have allowed city crews to restore them up to be reopened.
Parks and Open Spaces Manager Cory Halvorsen says right when the temperatures dropped crews went to work and fortunately it all timed out well.
“We are happy that the weather cooperated and that we were able to get the rinks open again for people to enjoy on the long weekend.”
Only one rink, located at Prince Arthur’s Landing, was kept open during the warm weather due to it being refrigerated.
