The Thunder Bay Police Services Board has accepted the resignation of embattled police chief Sylvie Hauth.
Hauth first joined the service in 1993 and after serving in multiple departments including criminal investigation, uniform patrol and community services, she was eventually promoted to Deputy Chief and Acting Police Chief, before taking on the full role in 2018.
She announced her retirement last year the same day it was announced she was facing hearings in connection to misconduct allegations and was subsequently suspended.
As a result of the resignation Hauth will no longer have to face those hearings which were expected to take place next month.
Her retirement becomes official January 27th.
In the meanwhile Acting Police Chief Dan Taddeo will continue in the role until a new chief is appointed according to a release from the Thunder Bay Police Services Board.
