It quite possibly is the oddest escort duty officers with the Greenstone Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police and the Nishnawbe Aski Police Service have ever been placed on.
On January 13th officers were called after a female pig had escaped her enclosure and was found wandering around Highway 11 near Geraldton.
To entice the swine to follow, the officers held out bowls of food for the pig to and escorted her on foot along the highway.
Fortunately, no accidents were caused by the wayward pig and she was safely returned to her enclosure to tell her barnyard friends, a pot belly pig and a few chickens of her adventure.
