The powers of Mr. Malcolm Mercer over the Thunder Bay Police Services Board (TBPSB) have changed.
Following an initial order issued on April 19th, an update on Wednesday by Tribunals Ontario includes amendments that will see the Administrator presiding over all regularly scheduled and special meetings of the board.
Mercer will also have the only vote.
Concerns about oversight and the delivery of police services led to the appointment by the Ontario Civilian Police Commission (OCPC) for a period of six months, which could be extended if necessary.
Since the administrator was appointed, the chair and two board members have resigned, leaving Bill Mauro as the only active board member.
Spokesperson Janet Deline with Tribunals Ontario says as the investigation into the Thunder Bay Police Service is ongoing, the OCPC cannot comment further at this time.
