More unmarked graves at former residential schools have been discovered.
Saskatchewan’s Keeseekoose First Nation says 54 sites on two former Catholic-run schools were discovered using ground-penetrating radar.
The former Fort Pelly and St. Philips schools were located near the Saskatchewan/Manitoba border, that’s more than three hours northeast of Regina.
42 of the gravesites were located at the former Fort Pelly school. The other 12 have been were identified at the St. Philips location.
To date there have been discoveries of 1,987 unmarked graves from former residential school sites from Saskatchewan to British Columbia.
