The “Freedom Convoy” is coming through Thunder Bay.
Thousands of transport truck cabs and passenger vehicles will be passing through Northwestern Ontario in the next couple of days.
The convoy is expected to roll into Thunder Bay later on Wednesday, but it is also dependent on highway conditions west of the city as well as the overall speed of the convoy.
Inside city limits, the convoy is expected to travel along Arthur Street to Twin City Crossroads.
Drivers will be hitting the road again Thursday morning heading for Sault Ste. Marie.
City Police are warning residents of what will likely be high traffic volumes once the convoy gets into town.
Motorists are being strongly encouraged to plan alternate routes and to give themselves extra time to reach their destination.
Local police are also working closely with the OPP to better understand the volume and nature of traffic entering Ontario and heading toward Thunder Bay.
The convoy is a driving protest about border vaccine mandates that were put in place by the federal government. They are expected to be in Ottawa by Saturday Jan. 29.
