The message still not getting across when it comes to impaired driving.
The Thunder Bay Police Service conducted 12 RIDE programs over the holiday season.
13 drivers were charged with impaired driving and another 13 blew within the warn-range and garnered themselves roadside suspensions.
There were also three drivers that were charged with being impaired by drugs while operating a vehicle, and another two refused to provide a breath sample.
The police service also saw a number of smaller infractions that citizens were clearly flouting the rules for; not wearing seatbelts, driving with open liquor, failing to pull over for emergency vehicles, moving violations (red lights, stop signs etc.), as well as driving without a license or with no insurance.
Over the course of the year, Thunder Bay Police laid 252 impaired driving related charges; alcohol or drug.
This is slightly lower than 2020’s numbers but still higher than the previous two years respectively.
