The Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre is reporting high occupancy as of late.
In a release, the Hospital states that it’s medical and surgical occupancy resides at 99.3 per cent, and the ICU is at 77.3 per cent.
Currently there are 19 people admitted who are positive for COVID-19, but not all are from Thunder Bay’s catchment area. Two of those individuals are in the ICU.
The release was also asking for the publics help in helping keep other patients and staff safe by only visiting the Emergency Department if necessary.
It goes on to ask the public that if they are experiencing mild covid symptoms, to not risk exposure to others by coming into the hospital. Instead they are encouraged to try their primary care team or Telehealth Ontario.
The public is reminded that if they do visit the ED, patients will be seen based on severity of illness even if they arrive by ambulance because of high volumes.
