Students, staff and faculty of Lakehead University will need to be vaccinated against COVID-19 to engage in activities on campus.
President Moira McPherson announced Tuesday that a vaccine policy is currently being developed, and will be shared upon completion.
Anyone arriving on campus and properties will be required to have received their first vaccine dose by September 7, and be fully immunized by no later than October 7.

McPherson says there still needs to be a focus on safety even with high vaccination rates.
“The University will continue to remain vigilant in protecting the health and safety of all members of our community, and we will take additional measures if conditions change in the semesters ahead,” says McPherson. “My sincerest thanks and appreciation to each and every one of you who has done your part to keep our campuses and each other safe.”
This comes after Lakehead University mandated vaccines in July for students who wished to live on residence.
The message stresses careful consideration was put into the decision, after a summer of working closely with government authorities, the Council of Ontario Universities, Universities Canada, and the local district health units.
