Some Canadians and Americans are crossing the border into Canada despite the current closures.
According to Stats Canada, 22,350 Canadians crossed the Pigeon River crossing back in February of last year, there were 1,461 Americans.
A year later, that dropped drastically, to 334 Canadians, and 86 Americans.
Statistics Canada says 343 US citizens cross at Fort Frances in February with another 78 making their way to the Rainy River district at Rainy River.
One year ago, there were 6,500 crossings at Fort Frances and 3,200 at Rainy River, just one month before the pandemic hit.
US citizens entering can only do so for essential reasons.
As of February 22nd, all travelers to Canada are subject to testing and isolation requirements.
