I’m pretty excited about our Canada Day show this year: The Top 100 Canadian Songs of All Time that is being co-hosted by Randy Bachman, Burton Cummings and Stu Jefferies (remember Good Rockin’ Tonight?!?!). I haven’t checked out the list yet, I’m trying really hard to keep the music a surprise but like many of you, I have hopes that certain songs will make the list.
I also have an idea of where they should fall…in fact, I’m considering nerding out a little and compliling my own list to see where it lands compared to theirs. Realistically though, 100 songs might take me a lot longer than I should spend on the list. Maybe I’ll just do a Top 10 Canadian Songs of All Time that I think should show up at least somewhere on the list.
Guaranteed that as soon as I put this out on the internet, I’m going to remember a ton of songs that I should have included, but this is my ‘I’ve put some thought into it but not hurt my brain coming up with it’ list:
10. Platinum Blonde – Standing In The Dark
09. Tragically Hip – Wheat Kings
08. Neil Young – Helpless
07. Rush – Spirit of Radio
06. Men Without Hats – Safety Dance
05. Loverboy – Lovin’ Every Minute of It
04. Honeymoon Suite – Love Changes Everything
03. Bachman-Turner Overdrive – Takin’ Care of Business
02. Bryan Adams – Summer of ’69
01. Gordon Lightfood – Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald
What do YOU think should be included on the list? Let me know in the comments!
The Top 100 Canadian Songs of All Time will air on Wednesday July 1st from 6am to 3pm and again from 3pm to Midnight!
