Thunder Bay City Hall is now fully closed to the public, as the province plans to close non-essential workplaces.
City Manager Norm Gale says it’s to protect residents, city staff, and Councillors.
“We are making decisions about city services on a daily basis, and reviewing Premier Ford’s announcement and will await his list tomorrow,” says Gale. “We are preparing to respond, and will continue to provide service where deemed essential.”
The city is also making more adjustments to Council meetings during the province’s state of emergency.
Councillors have approved a by-law to allow them to hold discussions with some Councillors attending by phone or video-conference.
Normally, they need seven Council members in the room to conduct their meetings.
Councillors Rebecca Johnson and Brian McKinnon, along with members of city Administration, participated in the meeting by phone Monday night.
