A little boy is not-only dressing as his hero for Halloween but also becoming a hero in the process. 7-year-old Ethan Smallwood, of Clarke’s Beach, N.L., loves Terry Fox and is dressing as him for Halloween, and is trying to raise money instead of getting candy.
Not only does he plan to ask for donations instead of treats on Halloween night, Ethan’s family set up a page to raise funds for cancer research through the Terry Fox Foundation. You can see his video below. He’s raised over TWELVE THOUSAND DOLLARS as I write this! That’s so incredible! The goal is set at $15,000. If you’d like to donate or check out the page, click here.
Ethan’s mom, Candice, says he first learned about Terry in kindergarten and has been obsessed with him since. His room is full of books about Fox and decorated with posters of the Canadian icon. As far as not getting any Halloween candy this year, it won’t be that big of a loss, because according to Ethan: “Mom eats it all anyway.”
