Two consultants have been hired to scope out the condition of the existing Thunder Bay Police Services building.
Chief Sylvie Hauth tells us the two architect firms will look at how much it will cost to renovate the Balmoral headquarters versus putting up a new building.
“They’re going to look at what we need to do, and what are the costs involved in order to bring the facility up to standards, up to our needs, space, just about everything.”
The consultant contract was awarded jointly to RPL architects and Form Studio architects.
“It will assess our current building, look at how we do business, current needs of the building, infrastructure… and then doing a comparison in terms of growth, moving forward, in terms of space, all of our requirements.”
The police chief hopes a report will be before City Council by late December or early January.
