Communities across Ontario including Thunder Bay are celebrating the 50th anniversary of the Special Olympics movement.
Volunteer Keith Nutley tells us it’s also the 50-day countdown to the 2019 Invitational Youth Games in Toronto.
“60 Thunder Bay athletes have been invited to attend. We just recently qualified 12 athletes from Dryden so they will be attending as well. We’ve got youth from all over the world taking part; they are going to make some great friends while they are down there.”
A flag celebrating the 50th anniversary was raised at the headquarters for police today on Balmoral.
