Thunder Bay’s heritage caboose is on track to be restored to its former glory.
The Railway Historical Society says a deal was struck with the city to repaire the caboose at Prince Arthur’s Landing, as a result of meetings with the municipality ongoing since last May.
President Craig Symington says, while there’s no dollar amount to attach to this project just yet, with further meetings planned for February, the city will be responsible for demolition work. The group, he adds, will put new siding on it, and paint it up in its late 1950’s colour scheme.
He says they’re now seeking volunteer and financial support from the community.
Symington notes the society is still working towards restoring the VIA train cars in Kaministiqua Park, and is currently having it assessed to determine just how costly repairs may be. (Photos supplied)
