The Ontario government is defending its new computer system for handling welfare cases in the province.
The new system developed a problem when it sent out 20 million dollars in overpayments in error. In the legislature Premier Kathleen Wynne admitted there was a glitch and that less than 1 per cent of cheques still have to be dealt with, but that the other 99 per cent have been dealt with.
She says the government is working to quickly to try to rectify the situation. Critics are wondering why the government rolled out the new system before making sure it worked properly. (File Photo)
