Certain Thunder Bay residents’ water bills have been impacted by the Canada Post strike.
Residents in the Red River, Current River, Woodcrest, and Grandview areas as well as Rosslyn and Riverdale have been affected.
The bills for this area were originally scheduled to go out after water meter readings in October for a December bill payment.
The bills for this period will be sent out as soon as workers return to local postal officers.
When residents get the bill it will say it is due on December 13, but this date has been extended to allow additional time to pay.
The city plans on releasing a new due date once postal services resume.
Residents enrolled in pre-authorized payment plans will have funds for the bill payment withdrawn on the new due date.
If you’re on a monthly payment plan, there will be no withdrawal on January 1 for the new payment period.
Monthly payers will receive an update once Canada Post services resume.
Residents in the affected area who are registered to receive water meter reading reminders should have already received updates about this delay.
Those who aren’t signed up can visit the city’s website to register for the water meter reading reminder service to stay informed about future updates via email, telephone, or text message.
The city plans on releasing more information as it becomes available.
