A Confederation College golfer and Thunder Bay resident has punched his ticket to the Canadian Collegiate Athletic Association Golf National Championships.
First-year Business-Marketing Student Nathan Lepore secured a silver medal at the Ontario Colleges Athletic Association Golf Championship to qualify.
“Nathan played a superb tournament, recovering from a score of 82 the first day followed up by rounds of 74 and 69, the low round of the three-day event,” said Golf Coach, David Reid. “After a wait of over four hours, Nathan then fought his way through 3 sudden death playoff holes.”
Lepore has had a busy first year of college.
His OCAA silver was the first-ever individual golf medal in the college’s history.
He also took home the OCAA Provincial Golf Rookie of the Year Award and secured a spot on the OCAA First All-Star Team.
Lepore and Coach Ried are off to the CCAA Golf National Championships being hosted by Humber Polytechnic.
The event is running from October 15 to October 18.
