Happy “NATIONAL HOT TODDY DAY”!
HOT TODDY’s are often drank as nightcaps; a winter favourite; and some even think it can help soothe a sore throat or a cold. The drink can be tweaked, so there are variations. A classic HOT TODDY is whiskey, rum or brandy (go with the BRANDY – trust me), then some water, honey, and even mix it with sugar, lemon juice / and even a spice like cinnamon or nutmeg. However you make it – enjoy!
The history behind this drink is debated. There is one that says it became popular in Western Europe in the 1700’s after they started being served in pubs in Scotland. Don’t forget to heat it up – that’s why it’s called a “HOT TODDY”. Enjoy and drink responsibly. (I had to put that in there).
