Thunder Bay Superior North MP Patty Hajdu calls the decision of now former House Speaker Anthony Rota to resign the honourable and right one.
Now the House of Commons will be electing a new speaker, which she is hoping for another member of her party to get the job.
“We have lots of different kinds folks putting their hands up and so on Tuesday I’ll be casting my ballot for my preferred option, its a ranked ballot so you do have an option to cast a ballot for your first choice, second choice, etcetera all the way through the list.”
Rota’s resignation came days after he invited a former Ukrainian soldier who fought for the Nazi’s during the Second World War into the House of Commons where he received a round of applause and recognition during a special visit by Ukrainian president Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
