Two people are dead and two others have been taken to hospital with undisclosed injuries following a collision on Highway 11/17 near Shabaqua early Sunday morning.
The incident occurred near Finmark Road around 3:30 a.m. when two commercial motor vehicles collided.
This forced the closure of the highway for nearly 20 hours halting traffic in both directions, with no alternative routes.
Officers with the Ontario Provincial Police’s Traffic Incident Management and Enforcement Team and collision re-constructionists are assisting with the investigation which remains ongoing.
The highway was reopened to one-lane just before 11:00 p.m.
