Ontario’s Police watchdog has launched an investigation following a custody injury involving city police.
On July 27th officers were called to a home in the city’s north side around 10:30 p.m. involving a man in crisis armed with a knife.
The officers apprehended the man under the Mental Health Act.
According to the Special Investigation’s Unit, while taking him to hospital the 38 year old managed to harm himself in the backseat of the cruiser, where he sustained serious injuries.
He was later treated in hospital for those injuries.
No further details regarding the investigation have been released.
