A water sample taken from Lake Superior earlier this week has confirmed the presence of Blue Green Algae.
The Thunder Bay District Health Unit says the sample was taken on Tuesday near Scott Drive in Shuniah.
Blue green agae is toxic to both humans and animals if consumed, inhaled or even touched.
Residents are being asked to avoid swimming in the area.
