Officials with the Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry are seeking the public’s assistance after a black bear was wounded after being shot.
Bear Wise technicians were called to the Spring Creek Drive area of Dorion on July 12th, where they sedated a small black bear wandering the area, in an emaciated state.
An examination revealed the animal had been shot in the head by someone using both birdshot and buckshot, rendering the bear blind in one eye and compromised its overall health.
The Ministry is attempting to rehabilitate the bear at a wildlife care facility.
Anyone with tips is asked to contact the Ministry’s TIPS line at 1-877-847-7667 or Crime Stoppers.
