A city man faces a number of charges following an incident at a north side home Saturday, which resulted in Thunder Bay Police having to rescue a child.
Officers were called to a disturbance at an Albany Street home just before 9:00 p.m., there they discovered a window near the entrance had been broken.
The suspect, a 36 year old man, threatened officers while brandishing a knife, telling them to shoot him, while two other residents in the home, including a child, had barricaded themselves in a room.
Officers outside the home were able to rescue the child through the window, but the second person remained trapped.
When the suspect began moving towards the barricaded room officers intervened and took him into custody.
While in custody the man assaulted one of the officers.
He’s been charged with:
• Assault
• Assault with a Weapon
• Uttering Threats
• Assault Peace Officer
• Break and Enter
• Mischief Under $5,000
• Failure t o Comply with Release Order
He appeared in court on Sunday and was remanded into custody.
