Officers with the Thunder Bay Police Service are on scene following reports of shots fired in the area of Amelia Street West.
Those reports, which came in just before 1:00p.m., include what police are calling “multiple parties” with firearms becoming involved in an altercation.
Police are asking residents to avoid the area while police investigate the incident and that a significant police presence remains.
As a result of the situation St. Martin School has been placed in a hold and secure, in a release the Thunder Bay Catholic District School Board says the school will stay in a hold and secure until police have determined the area to be safe.
Acadia News has reached out to Lakehead Public Schools to confirm if a hold and secure has been initiated at its facilities but our inquiry was not confirmed.
This is a developing story, we will have more details as they become available.
