A Constable with the Thunder Bay Police Service has been charged with assault causing bodily harm following an investigation by the provinces police watchdog.
The Special Investigations Unit initially received the complaint in November of last year following an interaction between the officer and a 61 year old man on Oliver Road near the Regional Health Sciences Centre.
The man was taken to hospital and diagnosed with serious injuries.
As a result of the investigation the Constable, who has been with the service since 2019, has been charged with one count of assault causing bodily harm.
They are required to appear in court on May 23rd to answer to the charges.
