Several items are on the agenda tonight for Thunder Bay city council, including a response to the city’s unsheltered homeless population from legal services on how to address to encampments.
That report is recommending the city take a human rights-based approach, and will present an encampment response protocol on how to address the situation.
As well staff will be recommending an update to the long term tax strategy.
Some changes include lowering the commercial tax ratio to just under 2% and phasing out the larger industrial property class.
Council is also being asked to approve just over $1.1 million to authorize the Director the City’s Corporate Information Technology department to enter into negotiations to upgrade software the city uses, as it is nearing the end of company support for the service.
Tonight’s meeting gets underway at 6:30 p.m.
