A buyer has been found for Domtar’s Dryden operations as part of a regulatory requirement to sell the pulp mill due to the merger of Domtar and Resolute Forest Products.
First Quality Enterprises is an American based company with mills scattered along the Eastern US and one in Quebec, which manufactures paper towels, toilet paper, feminine care and baby care products.
The sale of the mill is subject to conditions including approval from the Commissioner of Competition and clearance under the Hart-Scott-Rodino Act.
Should it be approved, the sale is expected to be completed by the third quarter of 2023.
Another element of the merger will also see the sale of Resolute’s pulp and paper mill in Thunder Bay.
