Four city residents have been arrested following a weekend incident where a man was handcuffed and assaulted in his home.
The incident began just after 3 a.m. Saturday when one of the assailants banged on the door of the Finlayson Street apartment, accusing the occupant of stealing drugs.
The victim opened the door and was assaulted, three other suspects also entered the home, handcuffing him and threatening him with a firearm, taking the victim’s smartphone, some cash and a bank card.
The four then took several items including an undisclosed amount of cash and a smartphone.
Despite being restrained the victim was able to escape.
Police arrived at the home before 5 a.m. and began their investigation, which lead them to arresting the suspects, taking three into custody during a high risk traffic stop, before locating and arresting the fourth at a nearby home, less than an hour later.
All parties involved in the incident are known to each other.
The investigation revealed the firearm the victim was threatened with was a replica, however they were unaware of that fact at the time.
