Fort William Rotary House Lottery is giving away another house in hopes to raise money for local charities and support services in Thunder Bay.
Valued at $800k the house is located at 488 Muskrat Drive and open houses will begin on March 4th and run each Saturday from 1 p.m. until 4 p.m.
It features four bedrooms, three bathrooms an attached garage and a fully loaded kitchen which includes a stainless steel smooth top range, refrigerator, dishwasher, built in microwave and chimney style vented range hood.
A virtual tour of the home can be found here.
Chair Bob Hookham, says the lottery generates quite a bit of money for services that are limited in funding.
“The money, less expenses, goes and stays within the district. There is not a payed person, far as the club goes, we’re all volunteers and it generates, well last year it was $436,000.”
Hookham adds the organization has managed to raise almost $7 million over the past 37 years.
More than 20 charities and organizations locally and across the district are supported by the earnings from the lottery including:
- Boys and Girls Club
- George Jeffrey Children’s Centre
- Wilderness Discovery Camp
- Regional Food Distribution Association
- Thunder Bay Christmas Cheer Fund
- Air Cadets Squadron #70
- Camp Quality
- Shelter House
- The Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Foundation
- St. Joseph’s Foundation of Thunder Bay
In addition to the overall grand prize, $50,000 in early bird cash prizes are up for grabs with the first happening on April 6th valued at $10,000.
Starting April 14th there will be eight weekly draws of $5000.
