Thunder Bay Police are asking members of the public to be aware of and not interact with a young moose that has grown accustomed to humans.
The moose has been observed frequenting the area of Townline Road at Government road recently and as a result of human interference, with people approaching and feeding the animal, it has now developed a habit of walking onto the roadway and not moving away.
Police say this represents a serious public safety risk and are asking motorists to drive with extreme caution, especially around nighttime hours and times of low visibility.
A release issued from police is emphasizing people DO NOT feed the moose, as those actions could lead to serious consequences for others, including the animal.
The Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry is aware of the situation and working toward a resolution.
