Sioux Lookout’s Meno Ya Win Health Centre will be searching for a new person to helm the organization following the resignation of Douglas Semple, effective February 1st.
“I leave the CEO’s office with a good heart. It’s been a long run, right from the beginning,” says Semple. “I want to thank the managers and staff for accepting me to be part of their circle of care for the patients that come to us. I thank them for allowing me to lead them for a brief time.”
Semple, of Kasabonika Lake First Nation and a residential school survivor, was a founding member of Meno Ya Win’s senior management group – starting as the group’s Vice President of Corporate Services and Communications in the early 2000s. He has also served as a First Nations advisor to the board.
“We are thankful for Douglas’ leadership and guidance,” says Board Chair Sadie Maxwell. “He was committed to advancing the organization’s Mission, Vision and Values and its journey to Excellence Every Time. His dedication and leadership will be missed.”
Semple was named President and CEO in June 2022 – after longtime leader Heather Lee announced her retirement earlier in the year.
