I was a bit of a latecomer to U2, while many of my friends were into them in grade school and early high school, it wasn’t until 1988’s ‘Rattle and Hum’ that I finally jumped on the U2 train and I’ve been a fan ever since. I’m looking forward to diving in to the audiobook of singer Bono’s biography next week (have to finish ‘Biblical’ by Judas Priest’s Rob Halford first!) and I was very pleasantly surprised to hear that U.S. President Joe Biden would be honouring U2 at this year’s Kennedy Center Awards. Along with U2, honours were given to actor George Clooney, singer/composer Amy Grant, singer Gladys Knight and composer Tania Leon! You can see most of the telecast of the ceremony here on the Kennedy Center site, but I’ve posted Eddie Vedder of Pearl Jam honouring U2 below to give you a taste! I highly recommend checking out the Matt Damon and Julia Roberts tributes to George Clooney as well, they were very funny!
